Bespoke Services
All garments are heavily researched, though any sources or imagery from clients is always welcome as they may want something very specific.
Contemporary
Internal seams stitched by machine, finished with an overlocker. Most finishings done by machine (including buttonholes) except where it is not possible. Handstitched hem, unless it is period accurate for a machine sewn hem.
Standard
Internal seams stitched by machine, period accurate finishings and threads used.
Traditional
A fully handstitched garment, including buttonholes and internal seams. Fully authentic materials are used; linen/wool/silk thread, findings and embellishments.
Clients are welcome to supply their own materials, or provide a list of their chosen suppliers. However, I will still advise on what is accurate for the chosen period and/or social class. There is a vast difference between upper class garments and those of the working people. Maya Howes reserves the right to refuse a commission if the materials are not suitable for the era.
